Put it up? Or nah?

There's a fine line on what should be put on the internet and what should not be put up on the internet. When parents post things like shooting a laptop to punish the kids, in all honesty, it's embarrassing for the parent. We don't know what the kids did wrong most of the time for viral videos. When videos like they make their way around online, it's shameful for the parents in these type of video because it makes me think that this is their form of punishment. Shooting a laptop won't make the problem of staying online go away. The daughter will still find ways to go online or waste time. She isn't learning a lesson. When the video is posted, it also gives me a feeling that the parents are looking for attention and approve, like a thumbs up for doing that.

Screaming and yelling is a result of being caught up in the heat, rarely does yelling at each other actually solve problems, it only creates bigger problems. When parents post videos of them shouting at a 11 year old for having a Facebook account, it's shameful. Is this how you teach you kids a lesson? By yelling at them and not letting them know exactly what they have done wrong? Plus, yelling is one of those actions we do when we want to go full out mad. In videos like this, I get an impression that an adult needs to go full out on a kids, their kids, which will listen to them if told a suitable reason.

I think the reason why these videos still make it's way online is because of the gems like the picture of the kid with an old man's haircut. Those are innovative ways to punish kids to make sure they learn their lesson, but doing it in a way that makes the reason obvious. For something like this, I can laugh without guilt- I don't have to worry about the kid after because there's clearly love in the actions.

A rule we can follow when posting things like this online should be "are we uploading this because nobody gets hurt but it's funny?"
